O, CANADA
The Upper North Side Canadian Music Series kicks off its third year with “Happy Birthday, Canada: A Celebration of Canadian Song.” New York performers, including Kate McGarry, Greg Naughton, D.D. Jackson, and others, celebrate Canada Day by performing songs written by Canucks. Friday, 7:30 p.m., Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette St. near Astor Place, 212-239-6200, $20.
BROOKLYN BOUNCE
The Cobble Hillbillies, an urban bluegrass group, headline a night of country music in Brooklyn. Other performers include the Fandanglers, Hot Club of New York, and Red Molly (Friday, 8 p.m. doors open). Singer-songwriter Tracy Bonham performs at the same venue later this weekend (Sunday, 8 p.m. doors open). Both shows: Southpaw, 125 Fifth Ave., Park Slope, 718-230-0236, $10.
DRAKE UNIVERSITY
New York musicians Josh Max and Julie James, along with some special guests, perform a tribute to Nick Drake, the British folksinger who died in 1974 at the age of 26.
