EXPERIMENTAL BEAT The American Indian band Red Earth combines reggae, rock, soul, jazz, and Native rhythms to create a sound they’ve dubbed “tribal stew.” Tonight, 5:30 p.m., in front of the National Museum of the American Indian, One Bowling Green, northeast corner of Battery Park, 212-514-3700, free.
COWBOY TUNES The Cuban Cowboys are the next performers in the outdoor concert series hosted by El Museo del Barrio (tonight). Performances highlight four themes in contemporary Latin music: bachateros, salseros, rocketeros, and rapperos. JAPANESE IDOL The Japanese pop duo Puffy AmiYumi performs at Irving Plaza as part of their East Coast tour. The group is comprised of Tokyo’s Ami Onuki and Osaka’s Yumi Yoshimura. The pair met in 1995 and their debut single, “Asia No Junshin,” sold millions of copies worldwide. They now host a television variety show and have inspired action-figure dolls, a cartoon, and a line of shoes.
