NEW ‘ORPHEUS’ Lincoln Center presents the world premiere production of Ricky Ian Gordon’s “Orpheus and Euridice.” This music-theater-dance hybrid features clarinetist Todd Palmer, soprano Elizabeth Futral, and Doug Varone and Dancers. Tonight, Friday, Saturday, 8 p.m., Jazz at Lincoln Center, Rose Theater, Time Warner Center, Broadway and 60th Street, fifth floor, 212-721-6500, $30-$65.


ORION IN BROOKLYN Philip Glass’s “Orion,” commissioned for the 2004 summer Olympic Games, is performed in Brooklyn. Mr. Glass mans the keyboard, joined by collaborators including Australia’s Mark Atkins on the didgeridoo,China’s Wu Man on the four-stringed pipa, Foday Musa Suso on Africa’s harp-like kora,Greek singer Eleftheria Arvanitaki, and India’s Kartik Seshadri playing a sitar composition that Mr. Glass composed with Ravi Shankar.

STARRY JAZZ Jazz lovers can enjoy live music, tapas, and wine under the stars at the American Museum of Natural History. Trombonist Wycliffe Gordon and his quintet are the next performers in the series. Friday, 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., American Museum of Natural History, Rose Center for Earth and Space, Central Park West at 79th Street, 212-769-5100, $13 general, $10 students and seniors, $7.50 children.


TAHITI TROUBLE The Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts presents Leonard Bernstein’s one-act opera “Trouble in Tahiti.” Michael Barrett serves as conductor, with stage direction by Peter Kazaras. The cast includes Rosa Maria Pascarella, James Martin, and Amy Synatzske. Saturday, 6 p.m. reception, dinner to follow, 8 p.m. concert, Caramoor Music Room, Katonah, N.Y., 914-232-1492, $100 ($1,000 tickets include pre- and post-concert receptions and dinner, $500 tickets include concert and post-concert reception).
