SONNETS ON STAGE

Eleven poets composed short verse plays to the new experimental show “The Republic of Poetry.” The plays share the broad themes of “love, war, and someplace in-between.” Filip Marinovich tackles the war in Iraq, Harry Matthews offers a suite on the changeability of love, and Denise Duhamel’s poetic play, which apparently qualifies as “someplace in-between,” is composed of fake subtitles from Hong Kong movies. Barbara Vann, who conceived the show, is among several directors. Tomorrow through Sunday, June 26, Thursday-Sunday, 8 p.m., Medicine Show Theatre, 549 W. 52nd St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, third floor, 212-352-0255, $15.
