STATE OF THE BOROUGH
Brooklyn’s borough president, Marty Markowitz, leaves his beloved borough to give a talk in Manhattan. He discusses current cultural and political issues facing Brooklyn in a discussion sponsored by the Women’s City Club of New York. ROCKEFELLER REFORM
Lawyer and activist Meile Rockefeller moderates a panel discussion about the future of Rockefeller drug law reform. Panelists include the executive director of the Correctional Association of New York, Robert Gangi; a lawyer for the Legal Aid Society, William Gibney; and former inmate Elaine Bartlett, who was the subject of “Life on the Outside” (Farrar, Straus, and Giroux), Jennifer Gonnerman’s book about the consequences of the current sentencing laws.
