PORN IN PUBLIC A discussion addresses the new mainstream status of pornography, from hidden sex scenes in “Grand Theft Auto” to the ubiquity of porn actress Jenna Jameson on network television. Panelists include the author of “Pornified: How the Culture of Pornography Is Transforming Our Lives, Our Relationships, and Our Families” (Times Books), Pamela Paul; the president of the ACLU, Nadine Strossen, who wrote “Defending Pornography: Free Speech, Sex, and the Fight for Women’s Rights” (New York University Press); the author of “Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture” (Free Press), Ariel Levy; the author of the novel “Night Work” (Touchstone), Nelson George, and the principal contributor to “Modern Sex: Liberation and Its Discontents” (Ivan R. Dee), Kay Hymowitz.The moderator is the author of “Little Red Riding Hood Uncloaked: Sex, Morality, and the Evolution of a Fairy Tale” (Basic Books), Catherine Orenstein. FISHY MEMORIES Jack Putnam presents a slide lecture featuring historical photos of the Fulton Fish Market. He shares stories from the market’s history and explores the economic and political reasons behind the market’s recent relocation to the Bronx. He also discusses the impact on the future of the Seaport district. BOOKS ONLINE The New York Public Library and Wired Magazine present a discussion about the competing interests and issues raised by the Google Print Library Project, and whether a universal digital repository of collective knowledge is possible. Panelists at “The Battle Over Books” include Allan Adler of the Association of American Publishers, Chris Anderson of Wired Magazine, Google’s David Drummond, Paul LeClerc and David Ferriero of the New York Public Library, Lawrence Lessig of Stanford Law School, and Nick Taylor of the Authors Guild.
