ANCIENT OBJECTS Author Olivier Bernier delivers the first in his four-part lecture series “Exotic Antiquities.” The opening discussion focuses on the ancient riches of Libya and Rome. WHAT IS SANITY? Psychoanalyst Adam Phillips, the editor of the new Penguin Modern Classics translations of Freud, participates in a conversation with writer George Prochnik. They’ll discuss the notion of sanity: While madness is often written about, its less-glamorous opposite is ill-defined. Mr. Prochnik is the author of the forthcoming book “Music of the Quills,” which examines the friendship between Sigmund Freud and Boston psychologist James Jackson Putnam, Mr. Prochnik’s great-grandfather.
