TIME MANAGEMENT In Jessica Bowser’s new experimental play “It’s About Time,” a depressed young man submits to a strictly regimented self-help program. The show uses music, video, and theater. Adam Bernstein directs the Confluence Theatre Company production. Thursday-Saturday, 8 p.m., Chocolate Factory Theater, 5-49 49th Avenue, Long Island City, Queens, 718-482-7069, $15.
FITZGERALD IN LOVE Peter Mills’s new musical “The Pursuit of Persephone” inserts F. Scott Fitzgerald into the plot of his first novel, “This Side of Paradise.” The play follows a college romance between Fitzgerald and a beautiful debutante based on his future wife, Zelda Sayre. (In real life, she rejected him repeatedly until the novel’s publication made him a star; they married one week after its release.) Cara Reichel, who co-wrote the show, directs the Prospect Theater Company production. Through Sunday, May 22, Thursday-Saturday, 8 p.m., Sunday, 3 p.m., Connelly Theatre, 220 E. 4th St., between avenues A and B, 212-352-3101, $15 general, $12 students. Note: An additional performance takes place Wednesday, May 18, at 8 p.m.
SEA CHANGE Peter Dizozza’s musical “The Sea Heiress” is about how “the righteous shall control the sea ports of Hamburg and Williamsburg, while the bulk of the population remain landlocked.” Williamsburg residents engaged in a battle with the city over the neighborhood’s waterfront will surely sympathize. Saturday and Sunday, 8 p.m., Williamsburg Art & Historical Center, 135 Broadway at Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 718-486-7372, $10.
