MANHATTAN MANSION Morris-Jumel Mansion, Manhattan’s oldest house, began as Roger Morris’s “Gentleman’s Farm,” became Washington’s Revolutionary War headquarters, and in the 19th century was used by Madame Eliza Jumel as a “Chateau in the Heights.” A guided tour provides a look at its 11 period rooms. Saturday, noon-1 p.m., Morris-Jumel Mansion, 65 Jumel Terrace, between 160th and 162nd streets, 212-923-8008, $5 general, $3.50 seniors, students, and members, reservations recommended.
CHURCH SPLENDOR An architectural tour goes inside Our Lady of the Scapular & St. Stephen’s Church, once the city’s largest congregation with more than 24,000 parishioners. The self-guided tour includes a onehour video, and experts including architectural historian Francis Morrone will be on hand. Participants are welcome to stay for the 12:15 p.m. Mass. Thursday, January 12, 11 a.m.-noon, meet at St. Stephen’s Church, 151 E. 28th St., between Third and Lexington avenues, 212-439-1049, $12 general, $10 members.
