NOVEL IDEA Writers Laurie Stone, Ranbir Sidhu, and Grant Bailie are living in separate, specially designed habitats and working on their new novels. They dine together every night and present weekly public readings of their works in progress. The public can also watch the writers at work during viewing hours. On June 4, the authors will emerge, having produced one novel each. WRITING FOR CHILDREN Authors Eric Suben and Maureen Johnson conduct a workshop on writing children’s books. The event is presented in conjunction with the Gotham Writer’s Workshop. Saturday, 2 p.m., New York Public Library, South Court Auditorium, Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street, 212-930-0641, free.
