Potato Finger Potato Chips A good sour cream and onion potato chip is hard to find these days: Frito-Lay ‘s and Herr’s brand potato chips are too salty and greasy. Pringles makes a chip that’s not prone to breaking, but there is a heavy chemical layer of flavoring that tops each chip. The chip company Potato Finger, based in Decatur, Ga., advertises their chips as “old school thin and crispy.” They are indeed delicate, and they’re also some of the best tasting sour cream and onion chips to hit shelves in New York since they arrived in the city in November. The chips, for once, aren’t doused in salt and they don’t leave an oily trail on a snacker’s fingers. Potato Finger’s chips taste fresh, and the company says that the chips are made in 11 minutes. Whatever the timing, Potato Finger’s sour cream and onion chips serve as a tasty alternative to other lowly vending machine options.
2.5 oz. bags of Potato Finger’s sour cream and onion chips are $1.95 at Bazzini’s (339 Greenwich St., between Jay and Harrison streets, 212-334-1280).
