LONDON — Prime Minister Blair’s chief fund-raiser was arrested for a second time yesterday by police investigating whether political honors such as knighthoods and seats in the House of Lords were traded for cash.
Lord Levy “denies any allegations of wrongdoing whatsoever,” Mr. Levy’s office said. The Metropolitan Police said a man had been arrested “on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice” at a London police station and later released on bail.
Mr. Blair’s Downing Street office declined to comment on the development, but said the prime minister stood by remarks made in December, when he said Mr. Levy performed a vital role as Middle East envoy.
