* Senator Kerry was in Florida and Ohio yesterday, where he accused President Bush of planning a surprise second-term effort to privatize Social Security and forecast a “disaster for America’s middle class.”
* The president took a day off from campaigning yesterday to prepare for a major speech on terrorism today and to sign a $33 billion measure for homeland security.
* The Democratic vice presidential candidate, Senator Edwards, urged members of a black congregation at Greater Friendship Baptist Church in Daytona Beach to take advantage of early voting as soon as it opened today.
WHERE THEY ARE TODAY
* President Bush is planning trips to Marlton, N.J., and Boca Raton, Fla., and will stay overnight in St. Pete Beach, Fla.
* Senator Kerry is planning to be in West Palm Beach, Fla.; Tampa, Fla., and Orlando, Fla., today with an overnight stay in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
* Senator Edwards will be in Fort Myers, Fla.; Haverford, Pa., and Philadelphia, and will stay overnight in Salem, N.H.
* Vice President Cheney will visit West Charleston, W.Va., and Johnstown, Pa.
POLLS
* A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll found Mr. Bush with a clear lead among likely voters – 52% support to Mr. Kerry’s 44%. Several other polls released over the weekend showed either a tie or a small advantage for Mr. Bush.
