A Brooklyn assemblyman, Karim Camara, was arrested early yesterday in Albany for drunk driving and speeding, according to a Times Union report.
At 1:45 a.m., police found Mr. Camara driving at about 65 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone and weaving.
Police said he failed several field sobriety tests and refused to take a breath analysis exam at the station. He was charged with DWI refusal and arraigned in Albany’s City Court yesterday, the report said.
Mr. Camara serves as executive pastor at First Baptist Church of Crown Heights, according to his assembly Web site.
He said in a statement he has not received any special treatment. “I will continue to abide by the process that is taking place and will be glad to comment further at the appropriate time,” he said.
