Bush To Nominate NYU Professor For Board Of Institute for Literacy

President Bush intends to nominate an author, doctor, and professor at New York University, Perri Klass, to be a member of the National Institute for Literacy’s Advisory Board, according to a news release issued by the White House yesterday.

Dr. Klass is the medical director and president of Reach Out and Read, a medical-based national literacy program, and is a professor of journalism and pediatrics at NYU, according to her biography at Reach Out and Read. She earned her medical degree at Harvard University Medical School and was awarded the 2007 American Academy of Pediatrics Education Award.

She is the author of three novels and two collections of short stories.
