The city announced a tentative settlement with the New York State Nurses Association yesterday on an overall collective bargaining agreement.
The contract, pending union ratification, would take effect December 1. It covers 6,500 nurses who work at the city’s 11 public hospitals.
The contract stipulates a wage increase of 2% on January 1, 2008, and another 5% on July 1, compounded. It also specifies two annual payments to the nurses’ Welfare Fund: $100 per employee in December 2007, and $166.67 per employee in April 2008. Starting on December 1, the certification differential would be increased to $1,378 per year per employee.
Nurses with more than 22 years’ experience would receive an additional $1,000, and nurse specialists would receive an additional $1,378.
