A New York man will not face the death penalty for a 2002 triple-murder in the Bronx, a federal jury in Manhattan decided yesterday. After a two-month trial, Darryl Henderson was convicted yesterday of several racketeering counts that carry the possibility of a life sentence in prison, the U.S. attorney in Manhattan, Michael Garcia, said in a statement. Although prosecutors had sought the death penalty, the jury acquitted Henderson of several murder counts that carried the possibility of a death sentence. Prosecutors said the motive for the three murders was the theft of an amount of cocaine worth more than $500,000.
