The chief of staff to a City Council member indicted on charges that he raped a woman in his campaign office, Dennis Gallagher of Queens, has resigned. His chief of staff, Margaret Keta, announced yesterday that she is leaving to spend more time with her family. She said her decision has nothing to do with the charges against Mr. Gallagher.
Mr. Gallagher is due back in court on November 20, at which time a judge may set a date for his trial.
Ms. Keta served as Mr. Gallagher’s chief of staff for two years, she said. Yesterday was her last day on the job.
