Police officers arrested the driver of a stolen minivan yesterday after he abandoned it and darted into the Bowling Green subway station, catching him when he exited two blocks later, police officials said.
The suspect was driving the wrong way along the four-lane West Street at the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel shortly before rush hour when police identified the vehicle as stolen, a police source said.
They chased the driver, who crashed into a wall in his escape attempt. He ran down a side street and across a pedestrian bridge before rushing into the subway station, the source said.
Police officers were waiting for him at the station exit, and arrested him across the street, officials said.
