The campaign of an Upper East Side Republican candidate for Assembly is getting a boost with an endorsement from a government watchdog, Citizens Union.
The non-partisan group is supporting Gregory Camp for the June 5 special election to replace Alexander “Pete” Grannis, who was named commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation.
The Democratic candidate, Micah Kellner, has collected endorsements from prominent city Democrats, including Speaker Christine Quinn and Rep. Carolyn Maloney.
Fund-raising information in the race was released yesterday, showing Mr. Kellner with about $78,000 in total contributions and Mr. Camp with about $42,000.
Mr. Kellner’s campaign has spent nearly $47,500, while Mr. Camp’s campaign has spent only $18.09, all of it at Gotham Coffee Shop on Second Avenue. A campaign consultant for Mr. Camp said the campaign has approved other expenses, but has not yet received bills for them. She declined to say whether she’s been paid for her work.
