The former New York City police commissioner, Bernard Kerik, who pleaded guilty to state charges in 2006, and is now the subject of a federal investigation, has been sued by his former lawyers for more than $200,000.
Mr. Kerik was police commissioner when Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani was mayor. It was Mr. Giuliani who recommended Mr. Kerik’s failed nomination for head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP says in papers filed in Manhattan’s state supreme court that Mr. Kerik has failed to pay bills of $202,384 for criminal defense services by a former partner lawyer at the law firm.
The lawyer, Kenneth Breen, moved to another firm but still represents Mr. Kerik.
