MINEOLA — A Long Island man has pleaded not guilty on grand larceny and other charges after authorities said he stole more than $38,000 from a community baseball association.
Joe Green, of Plainview, was arraigned yesterday. The 55-year-old is accused of stealing blank invoices from a sporting goods store and filling them out with fictitious orders for the Plainview Baseball Association.
Prosecutors say Mr. Green submitted 10 bogus invoices and then cashed the league’s reimbursement checks, putting $38,160.29 in his personal bank account.
League officials found out last year and reported the case to the district attorney’s office.
Mr. Green’s lawyer declined to comment. The case is due to be back in court on February 8.
