Man Arrested in Fatal TriBeCa Hit-and-Run

Police detectives in TriBeCa tracked down a suspect who fled the scene of an accident in Manhattan early this morning that left one man dead, police officials said.
The suspect, whom police did not identify, struck the 30-year-old victim with a late model Chevrolet sports utility truck on the corner of Canal and Greene streets at about 1:10 a.m., police said.
After receiving several 911 emergency phone calls, police rushed to the scene of the accident, where they discovered that the driver had fled.
The victim, who police have not yet identified, was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Greenwich Village where he was pronounced dead at about 1:50 a.m., police said.
Detectives from the 1st precinct, which includes TriBeCa, were able to track the down the suspect. An announcement of criminal charges is pending, police said.
