Police are searching for two men who masquerade as police officers in order to lure their suspects into handing over their property. The two men are connected to six robberies, police said.

According to police reports, the two typically approach their victims and identify themselves as police officers. They flash phony silver badges to corroborate their story, and use them as a pretext to search their victims for loot. After taking whatever valuables they can find, the two get into a green minivan and flee the scene.

During a three-week period in May, police say the bogus officers participated in six robberies, usually late at night, but in one case at 10:45 a.m. The reported crimes all took place in the Bronx.
