TWO INDICTED IN BEATING OF OFFICER

Two more suspects have been indicted in the beating of an off-duty policeman at a Bronx White Castle restaurant, the Bronx District Attorney announced yesterday. A grand jury indicted Jonathan Ayala, 19, and Alexander Fontanez, 23, charging them with first-degree attempted gang assault in the January 28 attack. The two were allegedly part of a six-member group that kicked and beat Officer Eric Hernandez, who was later shot by a fellow police officer in a case of mistaken identity.

L.I. MAN CHARGED WITH KIDNAP AND RAPE

A Long Island man was charged yesterday with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman on Monday, the Manhattan District Attorney reported. Richard Padilla, 41, of Huntington Station, allegedly abducted the 24-year-old victim at the corner of Second Avenue and East 12th Street in the East Village around 6 a.m. Monday, police said. Padilla forced his way into her late model Lexus by telling her he had a gun, police said. Padilla subsequently drove around in the victim’s car, sexually assaulting and sodomizing her several times, according to a criminal complaint. Police pulled him over around 8:30 a.m. for a traffic violation at the intersection of East 119 Street and Second Avenue in East Harlem. When police spoke to the victim, she said she had been kidnapped and assaulted. They also found 25 grams of marijuana in the suspect’s backpack, the district attorney said.

MAN ROBS TWO MANHATTAN BANKS

Police arrested a man yesterday after they said he robbed two East Side banks. The man, who was not armed, entered a Norfolk Bank branch on Third Avenue and 60th Street around 12:12 p.m., police said. He passed a note to the teller demanding money, but fled empty handed, police said. A bank employee followed the suspect to another bank, a Bank of America branch on Third Avenue located a block and a half away. The suspect again passed a teller a note demanding money – but this time fled with an undetermined amount of cash, according to police. The Norfolk employee flagged down police responding to the crime, who caught the suspect at Third Avenue and 59th Street.

CLINTON MOVES PARTY TO CROBAR FROM PACHA

Senator Clinton’s re-election campaign has shifted an upcoming fund-raiser to the Manhattan club Crobar from Pacha. The latter club’s late-night antics have reportedly included drug binges and nude dancing. The $50-a-person “Late Night With Hillary” will be hosted instead at Crobar, where the senator held another fund-raiser last year. A campaign representative denied Pacha’s naughty reputation had anything to do with the change. Initially, they thought it would be a smaller event, and that the 300-person capacity room at Pasha would be sufficient, a spokeswoman for the campaign, Ann Lewis, said. When the campaign received more than 500 responses, “they realized this would be a larger event, and so they looked for a larger space,” she said.
