Reverend Joseph Parkes will chair the city’s Campaign Finance Board, which monitors campaign contributions and enforces campaign finance laws, Mayor Bloomberg announced yesterday. Rev. Parkes, who currently sits on the board, will replace outgoing chair Frederick A. O. Schwarz Jr. Rev.
To fill the vacancy created by Mr. Parkes’ elevation Mr. Bloomberg is appointing Preeta Bansal, a partner at law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom as a member of the board.
“Father Parkes has demonstrated exactly the kind of pragmatic, even-handed, intelligent, and independent leadership that the CFB needs and deserves, and in Preeta Bansal, the CFB is getting a first-rate legal mind who will bring a wealth of experience,” Mr. Bloomberg said yesterday in a statement.
