A Pennsylvania man is being questioned in the killing of an Upper East Side psychologist, Kathryn Faughey, law enforcement sources said.
Faughey and her husband, Walter Adam, both met the man, who was not identified, at a guitar camp six years ago, sources said.
Detectives became interested in talking to the man after sifting through emails belonging to Faughey, sources said. The man was picked up from his home at about 4:30 a.m. by detectives and brought to a state police barracks in Bethlehem, Penn.
Police officials confirmed that the man is being questioned but would not call him a suspect.
“He’s an individual being questioned in connection with the case,” Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said.
Faughey was killed Tuesday when a man entered her Upper East Side office and attacked her with two long knives and a meat cleaver. Another therapist was also seriously injured in the attack.
A surveillance video showed the suspect escaping out a back door.
