The administration and musicians of the New York Philharmonic have reached a five-year trade agreement, the Philharmonic announced yesterday. The agreement — between the Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians, and the Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York, Inc. — calls for yearly increases in the minimum weekly salary, as well as increases in pension benefits.
The musicians agreed to greater flexibility with regard to scheduling and tours and to potential costsharing of health care expenses. They also agreed to perform two concerts without pay, for fundraising purposes, during the term of the contract.
