Police Seek Motorist In Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police are searching for a suspect in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a young man early yesterday morning in the nightlife district of Park Avenue South.
A suspect driving south along Park Avenue in a 1991 Honda struck Mathew Hopkins, 26, as he was crossing Park Avenue along East 22nd Street at about 4:09 a.m., police officials said.
When police arrived within minutes to the scene of the incident, the suspect had already fled, police said.
Hopkins was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at about 4:30 a.m., police said.
