The deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Bill Goldstein, resigned yesterday. Mr. Goldstein oversaw all of the Port Authority’s capital projects and his resignation comes just two days before the new executive director of the Port Authority, Chris Ward, is expected to be officially appointed by the board of commissioners. “He resigned,” a spokeswoman for the Port Authority, Candace McAdams, said referring to Mr. Goldstein. “And we expect to name someone to oversee the capitol construction program soon.” The Port Authority’s board of commissioners will meet tomorrow to vote on Mr. Ward, who was selected by Governor Paterson to replace the Port Authority’s former director, Anthony Shorris, who resigned last month.
