Police were hoping that images caught on security cameras would lead them to a bandit who followed a family of three tourists to their hotel room and robbed them of jewelry and other possessions worth thousands of dollars.

Detective Madelyne Galindo said yesterday that no new information had turned up in the incident, which occurred Friday evening as the family, visiting from Atlanta, returned to the Millenium Hilton hotel in downtown Manhattan.

Police said the family, an 8-year-old girl and her parents, were joined in an elevator by the crook, who rode with them to the 40th floor. There, police said, he drew a pistol and forced his way into the family’s room, where he handcuffed the parents and bound the daughter with duct tape before stealing cash, an emerald ring, two laptop computers and other items.
