A suspect tied to a spate of subway robberies in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Heights was arrested Tuesday night, the Police Commissioner, Raymond Kelly, said yesterday.
Miguel Ortiz, 27, robbed a woman at about 7:31 p.m. on the no. 2 train and then forced her to exit the train at Wall Street, police said.
The victim quickly informed several officers at the station, who notified police at the 14th Street station, where Mr. Ortiz was arrested, police said.
While the suspect has already been tied to five other subway robberies, Mr. Kelly said there is an ongoing investigation that could tie Mr. Ortiz to about nine robberies in all.
