The Spitzer Administration is planning to offer legislation that would create monetary incentives for homeowners who build or renovate their homes to meet green building standards, the First Lady, Silda Wall Spitzer, announced yesterday.

The amount of the incentive will be based on the size of the home, capped at $10,000, and is expected to offset the higher construction costs.

The state’s Dormitory Authority also announced yesterday that all new State construction projects and major renovations will be built to higher sustainability standards beginning in 2008.
