Teenage Swimmer Dies at Rockaway

Lifeguards managed to save two swimmers in distress off Rockaway Beach yesterday, but a 17-year-old boy is believed to have drowned.
Police said the boy was last seen swimming off Beach 92nd Street at 5 p.m. yesterday. He was listed as missing and possibly drowned several hours after the incident.
BROOKLYN SHOOTING VICTIM DIES
A multiple-victim shooting that occurred in Bedford-Stuyvesant early this week was reclassified as a homicide yesterday, when one of the teenage victims died of wounds from the shooting.
Tyrrey Palmer, 19, of East New York Avenue in Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at 8:30 a.m., according to police.
Palmer was shot in the head at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday at the corner of Saratoga and St. Marks avenues, and was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was listed as likely to die, police said.
Palmer was one of four teenage victims gunned down in last week’s shooting.
A 16-year-old boy was grazed in the head, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the stomach, and a 14-year-old girl was shot in the chest.
Police are seeking three suspects, described as black men in their 20s, who were seen shooting the four victims. The suspects fled the scene in a silver Volvo, police said.
POLICE SEEK QUEENS KILLER
Police are seeking the killer of a woman who was robbed and murdered in Flushing last month.
Usha Taneja, 56, was found lying in front of 20-25 120th St. with a head injury at 9:30 a.m. on August 20. Taneja was taken to New York Hospital of Queens and was pronounced dead four days later.
Police are seeking a Hispanic man, 25 to 30 years old, about 6-feet tall and 230 pounds, wearing a dark blue Yankees baseball hat. The suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a white, late-model Chevrolet or GMC commercial van with black and red lettering on the side.
