So named because her grandfather said she buzzed around like a mosquito, Davis was a country star before scoring a crossover pop hit in 1963, “The End of the World.” She toured with Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, and sang at the Grand Ole Opry for more than 40 years. She died Sunday of cancer, in Nashville.
