The Bronx Museum of the Arts and the Queens Museum of Art present Subway Series, a pair of exhibits celebrating their hometown baseball heroes. In the Bronx, the exhibit The New York Yankees and the American Dream chronicles the team’s history with art, memorabilia, photography, and cartoons. In Queens, Mets history is explored in The New York Mets and Our National Pastime, an exhibit that includes several new commissioned works, historic memorabilia, and pieces from the private collections of author Jonathan Lethem, photographer William Wegman, and others. Above is Jim Dow’s photograph “Shea Stadium” (1980), on view in Queens, and at right is Robert Longo’s ink and charcoal piece “61*” (2004), which is on view in the Bronx.
