‘Why Pataki Is the Wrong Name’
Rather than renaming Hudson River Park for George Pataki, Governor Sptizer should rename Ground Zero “Patakiville” [Oped, “Why Pataki Is the Wrong Name,” January 8, 2008].
That hole in the ground should be a suitable memorial for many years to come.

‘Hotel Bruno’
I read your recent editorial with great interest [Editorial, “Hotel Bruno,” January 22, 2008]. But a dose of common sense might be in order. If we are talking about one night and the upgrade was not in Senator Bruno’s control, then this is really not an issue. How many frequent travelers have ever been upgraded?
I have yet to see a discussion of how the State Ethics Laws address hotel upgrades that are the option of the hotel chain at the point of check-in in any article.
Private planes and specially discounted Las Vegas stays are one thing. Hotel upgrades in a New York City hotel when you have booked a room at the prevailing frequent traveler rate is another.
