‘State at Least $1B Behind in Funding Moynihan Station’
Now that the Moynihan station has hit a small $1 billion bump, is it inconvenient to ask if the original premise is flawed [New York, “State at Least $1B Behind in Funding Moynihan Station,” February 12, 2008]?
Why are we taking New York’s great rail terminal — fitted snugly between the Seventh and Eighth Avenue subway lines — and exiling it well beyond Eighth Avenue? Why don’t we take back the original site, rebuild the station right over the existing platforms, and banish the vulgar Madison Square Garden to the outer limits?
