Philanthropic Pairs

Do couples who go to galas together stay together? The ones pictured here seem all the closer for the hours they spend supporting good causes. Sharing philanthropic interests — and nights of dress-up, dancing, and champagne — is romantic, fun, and a great New York tradition (although these days, it’s common to see mates out solo ).

Valentine’s Day is that rare night off, a chance to stay home or find a quiet table at a restaurant. An exception will be New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and his wife, Veronica, who will be attending a Valentine Gala at the Rainbow Room to benefit the Bowery Mission and Kids with a Promise. Mrs. Kelly is an event chairwoman.
