Asking price: $3.9 million
Selling price: $3.8 million

SKYLIGHTS DELIGHT A Manhattan couple and their two young children are the new residents of this historic charmer, originally built in 1892 by the architect M.V.B. Ferdon. The four-story, single-family townhouse includes a basement, roof access, and live-in staff quarters.
The approximately 5,950-squarefoot, 20-foot wide property was almost completely gutted and renovated last year. All mechanical and electrical systems were replaced or upgraded, and the garden was completely landscaped. The original carved staircase was restored, and oak floors with cherry borders were installed. The antique fireplaces are in their original condition. Pocket doors separate the dining area from the living room and hallway on the parlor floor. Chandeliers with ceiling medallions are present throughout, and large skylights on the top floor provide outstanding light.
The handsome facade is set apart by its hexagonal bay shape, with large French plate windows and a beautifully carved stoop. Karen Garber and Meyrick Ferguson of Massey Knakal represented the seller. Sandra Smith of Fenwick-Keats was the buyer’s broker.

ON HIS OWN A newly single man looking for a fun loft space traded his Brooklyn brownstone for this luxury condo in the Newswalk building. The huge building is where the Daily News used to house printing presses. Before that, it housed a factory that made ice for iceboxes.
The 1,920-square-foot condominium has two bedrooms and an office. The sellers, a family with twin girls, bought a house in New Jersey. Among the apartment’s features are a state-of-the-art kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, a renovated bathroom with marble bath, stunning hardwood floors, 14- to 15-foot ceilings, oversized windows, lots of closet space, and partial views of Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan.
This full-service doorman building offers a fitness center, running track, indoor parking, and a 16,500-square-foot common roof deck with barbecue grills and a playground. Dannie King and Peter Noonan of the Corcoran Group represented the seller, and Ms. King also brought the buyer.

A LITTLE BIT OF EUROPE This shoebox of about 575 square feet is a first apartment for a young woman in college. The sellers, a Portuguese family, moved to New Jersey for more space. The buyer was attracted to the cozy charm of the apartment, especially the entryway and kitchen, which the sellers had decorated with floor-to-ceiling ceramic tile. “It is very European looking,” said the seller’s broker, Eugene Cordano of Halstead. The apartment features 10-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, French doors, spacious closets, and bright northwest exposures. Laura Wagner of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer.

ONE BEDROOM WITH A VIEW This newly renovated 700-square-foot prewar walk-up spans the entire floor of a brownstone on a quiet, tree-lined street. It’s “super beautiful,” said the seller’s broker, Frederik Eklund of JC DeNiro & Associates. With exposed brick, a wood-burning fireplace, and hardwood floors, the buyer was also attracted to its two exposures. Transportation was a selling point, with two subway lines nearby. The sellers, a couple with a child, purchased a home in Brooklyn. Along with Mr. Eklund, Caroline Grane, also of JC DeNiro, represented the seller. Wendy Jodel of Citi Habitats represented the buyer.
