EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Martin Brodeur made 22 saves for his 77th career shutout, and Zach Parise, Jamie Langenbrunner, and Scott Gomez scored goals in the resurgent Devils’ 3-0 victory over Philadelphia last night.

Brodeur, who beat Florida 3-0 on January 3 for his first shutout of the season, helped the Devils win their fourth straight game, their longest winning streak of the season. Before the streak, the Devils had lost 11 of 14 games.

New Jersey also improved to 6-5 since president and general manager Lou Lamoriello stepped behind the bench as interim head coach following the abrupt resignation of former coach Larry Robinson.

Philadelphia dropped to 7-1-1 on its team-record 11-game road trip. The Atlantic Division-leading Flyers (27-9-6) had earned at least a point in 17 of their previous 19 games and had not lost in regulation since falling to the Vancouver Canucks on December 15.

Parise and Langenbrunner scored power play goals for the Devils, who entered the game ranked 26th in the NHL in power-play efficiency.

Parise’s goal broke a personal eight game goalless streak. It was his second goal in his last 17 games.

Patrik Elias, the Devils’ returning leading scorer who played his first game on January 3 after missing several months with hepatitis, assisted on the power-play goals and has scored points in all four games since his return.

Scrambling for a playoff spot, the Devils (20-18-5) have gotten a big boost with Elias joining Gomez and Brian Gionta on the top line. Elias was on the ice for all three goals against the Flyers.

Late in the first period, Elias gained control at the Philadelphia blue line and flipped the puck to Gionta in the middle of the zone. The speedy winger skated in alone on Antero Nittymaki and had his initial shot stopped, but chased the puck down behind the goal. His pass found Parise in front and the rookie onetimed it in at 14:47.

With Donald Brashear off for holding midway through the second period, Brian Rafalski passed to Langenbrunner at the left circle, and his slap shot beat Nittymaki.

Gomez added his 17th goal of the season midway through the third period, taking a pass from Elias in transition and flipping a wrist shot past Nittymaki.

The Flyers squandered two scoring opportunities midway through the first period. Mike Richards hit the post with Brodeur on the ice and out of position, and Branko Radivojevic shot high on an unobstructed shot from five feet in front of the goalie.

The Flyers finished with 22 shots and have been held to fewer than 20 just once this season.
