Chuck Taylors seem like a laid-back footwear choice for angst-ridden billionaire Bruce Wayne. Nonetheless, Converse is releasing a new shoe inspired by Mr. Wayne’s alter ego, who returns to the big screen this week in “Batman Begins.”
Converse’s limited-edition Batman Boot, the result of a licensing agreement with Warner Bros., is modeled after the boot worn by actor Christian Bale in the film. It features laser etched leather marked with the Batman logo, as well as a logo under the boot’s clear rubber sole. The boot will sell for $200 at Nom de Guerre (640 Broadway, 212-253-2891).
Converse will also introduce an all-leather Chuck Taylor All Star sneaker this week with a laser-edged “Batman Begins” logo on the heel and beneath the clear sole. The sneaker will sell for $75 at Journeys, www.journeys.com.
