Designer Ann Nolan employs a variety of textile techniques, including jacquard, knitting, silkscreen, and cutting – all in a single dress. Ms. Nolan and five of her classmates, all of whom are receiving their MFAs from the Rhode Island School of Design’s textile department, are displaying their innovative and imaginative designs this month at Felissimo Design House, offering a look at the future of textiles.

Shelly Bremmer created formed-leather handbag prototypes using a patent-pending process that allows her to create ruches and ripples in leather. Constance Crenshaw devised paisley-like patterns in jacquard-woven fabrics for an imagined interior at the Cathay Pacific lounge in Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok airport. Della Reams crafted softly draping knitted and jacquard-woven garments, employing motifs such as Samurai symbols and Chinese medicine boxes.

Some items on display are strictly prototypes, while others are available for purchase by special order through the designers. The exhibit will run through June 23 at Felissimo Design House, 10 W. 56th St., fourth floor, 800-565-6785, www.felissimo.com.
