A decade ago, Miguelina Gambaccini launched an eponymous line of satin camisoles, flirty dresses, tanks, and tunics that were available only at high-end retail outlets. But last week, Ms. Gambaccini opened her own Bleecker Street shop filled with just the right things for beach travel and summer days.

The freestanding store gives the globe-trotting designer a chance to share with her customers some of the luxury bric-abrac she picks up during her travels. Among the one-off pieces are gold necklaces embellished with exotic amulets and a band of painted wooden bangles. And to ward off the evil spirits, there’s some “holy wood,” freshly scented incense that Ms. Gambaccini found on an Amazon sojourn.

The designer’s treks have taken her to Mexico, Corsica, and Thailand, where the inspiration for her sought-after Honeymoon Collection took root. Her trip to Thailand was both a romantic — she was on her honeymoon —and charitable endeavor — the newlyweds stayed at a Children’s Hospital and had guests donate to the facility in lieu of wedding gifts.

Ms. Gambaccini designed 10 white dresses of eyelet and lace. The different styles could be worn to bed or out on the town. For her trip, she balled them up into a single bag. And on her return, she was besieged with requests from friends for copies of the easy resort wear. As beautiful as they are functional, the white dresses ($180–300) change slightly each season.

In addition to the Miguelina staples, the spacious store has allowed for an expansion into accessories. Vinyl bags in iridescent blue, orange, and red hues are strewn about the store; they are roomy enough to pack a long weekend’s worth of sandals, white tanks, and summer dresses.
