HISTORIC HOLIDAY

From noon to 5 p.m. this weekend and next, Dutchess County’s Montgomery Place, an estate in the historic Hudson Valley, invites visitors to experience a magical Victorian Christmas with its “Visions of Sugarplums” holiday tours.

Guides in period costume demonstrate just how those Victorians decked their halls. Tiffany silver, 1897 menu cards, and oysters on the half shell tempt guests in the dining room, and boughs of holly evergreen, and other seasonal plants adorn the rest of the Annandale-on-Hudson mansion.

Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 17, and free for children under 5. Horse-drawn carriage rides are also available.

TRAVEL CUISINE

With fewer meals being served by air lines, more passengers are dining in air port terminals. According to a new report filed by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, America’s 12 busiest airports are finally responding to the public’s interest in healthier food, with an in crease in low-fat and vegetarian choices in their eateries.

Miami International Airport is ranked no. 1, with the greatest selection of nutritious meals. JFK is ranked fifth. For the second year in a row, Las Vegas McCarren International Airport came in last.

Best bet for airport wanderers – a veggie burger or bean burrito.

MUSEUMS

Snowbirds visiting Miami can now catch some culture in addition to some sun. Through April, the Miami Art Museum is presenting the international exhibition “Beyond Geometry: Experiments in Form 1940s-70s.”

The exhibit examines how postwar artists in Europe, South America, and North America turned to geometric abstraction as a springboard for experimentation. Reflecting the social and political upheaval under way during the cold war the 120 works include paintings and sculptures by 85 artists from 20 countries on three continents. On loan from public and private collections worldwide, many have never before been seen in America.
