TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS


The Tribeca Film Festival has announced the winners of its fourth annual film competition. This year’s festival included more than 250 films from 45 countries on six continents.


For Best Made in New York Narrative Feature : “Red Doors” by Georgia Lee. Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature: “Stolen Life” (“Sheng Si Jie”) by Chinese director Li Shaohong.


For Best Documentary Feature: “El Perro Negro: Stories From the Spanish Civil War,” by Dutch-Hungarian director Peter Forgacs.


For Best New Narrative Filmmaker: Chilean-Argentinian director Alicia Scherson for “Play.”


For Best New Documentary Filmmaker: Brazilian Jeff Zimbalist and American Matt Mochary for “Favela Rising.”


For Best Actor in a Narrative Feature Film: Cees Geel in “Simon,” by Dutch director Eddy Terstall.


For Best Actress in a Narrative Feature Film: Felicity Huffman in “Transamerica” by American director Duncan Tucker.


NY Loves Film Documentary Award: “Rikers High” by French-American director Victor Buhler.


Student Visionary Award: “Dance Mania Fantastic” by American director Sasie Sealy.


For Best Documentary Short: “The Life of Kevin Carter” directed by American Dan Krauss.


For Best Narrative Short: “Cash back” by British director Sean Ellis.


For Narrative Feature: “The Life & Times of H.J. Hermin” by American Dennis Lee.


For Documentary Feature: “Nice Bombs”by American Usama Alshaibi.


For Screenwriting: “The Undeniable Charm of Sloppy Unruh” by American Mario de La Vega.


Audience Award: “Street Fight,” directed by Marshall Curry.


Kids Pick for Best Family Short: “Spandex: A Father’s Tale” by American director Matthew Manson.

The International Center of Photography has announced the winners of its 2005 Infinity Awards. Susan Meiselas is the recipient of the 2005 Cornel Capa Award and fashion photographer Bruce Weber is recipient of the Getty Images Lifetime Achievement Award. … The five winners of the $10,000 Francis J. Greenberger Awards honoring artists “who for one reason or another have not been recognized by the world at large” are George Condo, Bruce Conner, John Lees, Stephen Mueller, and James Romberger. … Bard College has named a director of its Richard B. Fisher Center for Performing Arts, designed by Frank Gehry and home to the Bard Music Festival. Tambra Dillon comes from the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where she was vice president of marketing and promotion.
