The executive editor in chief of the Random House Publishing Group, Daniel Menaker, will announce his departure from the company today, the New York Times reported on its Web site. Mr. Menaker — who served as senior editor at the New Yorker magazine, where he specialized in literary fiction — joined Random House as vice president and senior literary editor in 1995. In 2003, he was appointed to the post of executive editor in chief.
The publishing house is expected to announce that Kurt Andersen will be tapped as editor at large, according to the Times. Mr. Andersen is the author of the novels “Heydey” and “Turn of the Century” and is currently a columnist for New York magazine. He is the host and co-creator of a magazine radio show on WNYC, “Studio 360.”
