The Guggenheim and the State Hermitage Museum in Russia will collaborate to open a new Contemporary art museum designed by Zaha Hadid in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2013, the New York Times reported Thursday. The museum will establish its own collection while also exhibiting art from the Guggenheim and Hermitage, and is expected to see 400,000 visitors a year. The Lithuanian government has already approved construction of the building, which it hopes will elevate the level of tourism in the country. The govenrment will pay for between 10% and 15% of the $117 million project.
