TeatroStageFest, a two-week festival showcasing Latino, Caribbean, and Spanish playwrights, directors, and performers, will run in the East Village between April 30 and May 13, Mayor Bloomberg and the Latino International Theatre Festival of New York, Inc., announced yesterday. The programming will take place at seven venues, including LaMama E.T.C., NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, and Joe’s Pub, and will include seven theater productions, as well as artist panels, concert performances, and the Young Playwrights Latino Challenge Awards, open to New York City high school students. The productions include a Colombian and Mexican co-production of “Hamlet,” a dance-theater performance by the Catalan dancer Marta Carrasco, and productions by four New York-based Latino companies — Teatro IATI, INTAR Theatre, Pregones Theater, and Teatro Círculo. The founding and lead sponsors of the festival are Time Warner and JPMorgan Chase.
