|The treasury secretary says the deal recently made between the Canadian and Chinese leaders does not represent a complete abolition of their respective trade barriers.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is now saying that President Trump’s declaration that he could impose a 100 percent tariff on Canadian goods is not an imminent threat. Mr. Bessent says such an escalation would only take place if Canada and the People’s Republic of China took further steps to remove their respective trade barriers.
